Carol Holtz

Carol Holtz, age 84, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at Sanford Hospital in Fargo, North Dakota.

Carol Shirley Jensen was born December 21st, 1935 in Minot, ND, to Signus and Hulda (Winther) Jensen, while her parents were living in Crosby, ND. Carol was baptized at the Danish Lutheran Church in Flaxton, ND. When Carol was one year old, the family moved to Berthold, ND where she was confirmed and graduated from high school in 1953. She worked for F. W. Woolworth’s in Minot, ND until 1954. She then attended Wahpeton State School of Science for a business course, and started working at Traverse Electric Cooperative in Wheaton, MN, in April 1955.

On December 12, 1959 Carol married Leo Holtz of rural Wheaton, MN, and became a fulltime farm wife and active member of Siloah Lutheran Church of rural Graceville, MN. To this union three children were born.

She is survived by two daughters:  Lorrell (David) Holtz-Oxley of Saxapahaw, NC; and Clarine Holtz of Kansas City, MO, as well as her godchildren Lynn Jensen of Jamestown, ND and Glenda (Holtz) Johanson of Alexandria, MN, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leo on April 13, 2004, their son Loren in 1975, brother Harvey (Lillian) Jensen of Jamestown, ND, sisters Helen Felt, Ardis Nestaval, and Leona Johnson, as well as her nieces Kirsten Nestaval and Lisa Nestaval Lamb.

She enjoyed time spent with family, spending time in God’s nature and learning more about God’s word, phone calls from near and far, scrap books, dancing, card playing, creating at a sewing machine, sending greeting cards, circle word books, and the winters spent in Texas beginning in 1990.

Carol lived in Texas for an extended time and was a resident of Edinburg (Texas) Nursing and Rehab Center. She enjoyed many activities there and made many new friends.

At the time of Carol’s death, she was a resident of the Traverse Care Center.

A private family graveside service was held on November 6, 2020 at the Siloah Lutheran Cemetery, rural Graceville, because of COVID-19 risks. Rev. Cheryl Berg officiated. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton, MN with Rev. Cheryl Berg officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church.
