Clara Marie Honzo, age 90, of Wheaton, Minnesota passed away Monday, November 21, 2022 at the Traverse Care Center in Wheaton.
A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, November 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Ave Maria Catholic Church in Wheaton with Fr. John Paul Knopik Celebrant. Visitation will be held Friday morning one hour prior to service time at the church.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery, Dumont, Minnesota at a later date.
Clara was born July 10, 1932 in Graceville, MN to Daniel and Clara (Schmidt) Conroy. She was welcomed home by three brothers: James, Ralph and Donald Conroy. The family lived in Collis, MN for the first years of her life, then they moved to the Conroy farm by Dumont, MN. Clara graduated from Wheaton high school in 1950. In September of 1951 Clara married John Honzo at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Dumont. John and Clara had fifty-three happy years together before John passed away in February of 2005. They farmed in Stevens and Traverse County until retirement in 1995. On Clara's sixth-fifth birthday they moved to Dumont, MN. For many years Clara kept books for Conroy Construction and Conroy Farms.
Clara was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and just received her seventy-five year membership certificate. She taught Catechism at St Peter's Catholic Church in Dumont for several years and was a member of the Dumont Centennial Committee. Clara enjoyed bridge, golf and being with friends and family.
Clara is survived by her children: Roxanne Lokkesmoe of Eden Prairie, MN; and Vickie (Joe) Montonye of Barrett, MN; grandchildren: Kenneth (Kayla) Montonye of Fargo, ND; and Jennifer Montonye of Sherman Oaks, CA; great-grandson Daxon Beaumia of Sherman Oaks, CA; brother Donald Conroy, sister-in-laws: Liela Fridgen and Eileen Honzo; and many nieces and nephews.
Clara was preceded in death by her husband John J. Honzo, her son John D. Honzo, parents Daniel and Clara Conroy, and brothers James and Ralph Conroy.
