Edna Johnson of Wheaton, MN, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, after a short residency at Sunrise Senior Living in Edina, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude and Lawrence Karpinsky (Chokio, MN), her husband, Verdi Johnson (Wheaton, MN), and her daughter Arlene Dayton (Dallas, TX); she is survived by her sister, Rosemary Karpinsky (Graceville, MN), her brother, Herbert Karpinsky (Mankato, MN), her daughter Suzanne Edwards (Minneapolis, MN), four grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A deeply engaged member of the Wheaton community, Edna was an extraordinary volunteer, avid gardener, excellent chef, and loving sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Edna was a member of and dedicated volunteer for the First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton until its closure; though she then became a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, MN, she regularly attended and much appreciated her reception at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton.

Edna worked at the Wheaton Community Hospital for more than 40 years and continued her service as a member of the Hospital Auxiliary. She also was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, The Women’s Study Club, and the Good Earth Garden Club.

A small, family service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. A celebration of Edna’s life will be held in Wheaton, MN, later this Fall (details to follow).
