Greg was the second child born to Floyd “Buddy” Byman and Shirley (Shelstad) Byman on July 22, 1961 in Wheaton, MN.

While growing up in Wheaton, Greg enjoyed the many pleasures of a small town life. His neighborhood friends joined him in games of kick-the-can, bottle rocket wars, fishing, pheasant hunting, tennis, and most importantly baseball. Greg developed a passion for baseball at an early age. He saved his extra money in order to buy, collect, and trade his prized baseball cards; thus, the seed to his entrepreneurial endeavors had been planted. As a young adult, Greg transitioned his passion of baseball to softball and played endless evenings in the thriving Wheaton men’s softball league, where he was known as one of the best pitchers on the mound.

At a young age, Greg spent a lot of time working on the Byman Farm with his family. The Farm was a special place for Greg, with extended family gathering for dinner every Sunday.  Byman’s Honda was opened by his Father in 1972, igniting Greg’s delight for snowmobiling and motocross dirt bikes. Greg loved racing his dirt bike competitively on weekends as a teenager.

Greg attended Pearson Elementary and Wheaton High School (WHS). He graduated from WHS in 1979. He attended Moorhead State University where he earned his degree in Business Administration. Greg became a successful salesman after college, working for businesses such as ADT Security where he was awarded National Salesman of the Year in 2002. His small-town charm, good looks, and welcoming demeanor were a perfect fit for a ‘big city salesman’.

On May 3, 1997, Greg was united in marriage to Bonnie Beckstrom. They purchased a home in South Minneapolis, and welcomed their child, the ‘apple of his eye’ Haley Rae. He enjoyed playing board games, mini golf, and catch in the backyard with Haley. They loved going to Minnesota Twins games and the State Fair together. Greg and Haley had many long conversations about school, boys, and politics. Greg was Haley’s softball coach and attended all of her tennis matches. He was her biggest fan. His trips to Washington, DC to visit Haley while she attended Georgetown University brought him great pride and joy.

Greg loved his trips back to Wheaton to visit his family and friends. His favorite place was the Byman family farm. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling with friends. Greg was a sports fanatic. Whether it be the Gophers, Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves, Lynx, or Wild, football, baseball, basketball, or hockey Greg rarely ever missed a Minnesota game. He enjoyed Old Time Country music, especially Johnny Cash.

Greg’s presence on this earth will be greatly missed by many, but forgotten by none. The memories of his adventurous spirit will continue to warm the hearts of his family and friends...until they meet again.

Greg is survived by his wife Bonnie of Minneapolis, MN, and daughter Haley of Arlington, VA. Siblings; Keith (Annette) of Ft. Myers, FL; Roger (Jill) of St. Michael, MN and Renae (Rick Fischer) of Cedar Rapids, IA; sister and brother-in-law Barbara (Kevin) Sweeney of Dana Point, CA; brother and sister-in-law Mark and Joan Beckstrom of Mandeville, LA; nieces and nephews: Bradley (Kelsey) Byman, Brett (Emma) Byman & Bryce Byman, Ryan (Lindsey) Byman & Nathan Byman, Reece Fischer & Addi Fischer; Samantha Scofield & Emma Gordon (Patrick); Jack (Mackenzie) Sweeny and Henry Sweeny; Scott (Elisabeth) Beckstrom, Annie (Hunter) Beckstrom and Thomas Beckstrom.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Shirley Byman of Wheaton, MN.
