Jerome Paul Berger was born on the BB Ranch in Redpath Township on October 18, 1936, to Paul and Sophie (Volker) Berger.  He was the oldest of his siblings: Dwaine, Eileen and LeRoy.  Jerome went to school at Morris Ag. School and graduated in 1955.

Jerome entered the military service in the U.S. Army on November 8, 1956, and was stationed in Germany during his service.  He was discharged on November 9, 1958, from the A Co. 237th Engineer BN at the rank of sergeant.  After his discharge from the military, he started farming with his father.  Jerome served on the church board, was a Mason and a Shriner and served many years on the Redpath Township Board.

On February 11, 1961, Jerry married Wanda Jeanne Sethre in Wheaton.  They bought a farm in Redpath Township and were part of the first farmers to bring sugar beets to this area.  They made their lives farming together along with their three children: Sherry, Chadd, and Stacy.  Their son continues the farming tradition.  Jerome and Wanda enjoyed traveling with their children, spending time with friends, golfing and playing cards.

Jerome is survived by Wanda, his wife of sixty years; his children: Sherry Berger of Ft. Meyers, FL; Stacy (Jeff) Nessett of Dassel, MN; and Chadd (Kelley) Berger of Wheaton, MN; six grandchildren: Josh (Kailey) Fridgen, Paul Berger, Derek Nessett, Eric Berger, Jadyn Nessett and Emily Berger; sibling: Dwaine (Judy) Berger; Eileen (Charles) Struckman; and LeRoy Berger.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Eugene Berger (infant); sister-in-law Karen Berger; nephew Scott Goltz; and brother-in-law Sidney Goltz.

The Berger Family extends their deepest gratitude to everyone who has supported them during this time.  A sincere note of appreciation to Dr. Michelle Rinke, Wheaton Hospital Staff, and CHI Health at Home (Hospice).
