Milton Hakenson

Milton Eugene Hakenson was born on June 8, 1936 in Norcross, MN to Melvin and Myrtle (Larson) Hakenson. He graduated from High School in Wheaton, MN in 1954 and then joined the army. After his stint in the service he attended Devry Institute of Electronics in Chicago and from there he worked for Hughes Aircraft in California. He soon found he didn’t like working inside all the time so he became an electrician and worked for the Union until retirement, traveling to jobs all over the western part of the United States. He and Janice Hardy were married in 1954. They are the parents of three children Eugene Hakenson (Intan) Watertown, SD, Cathy Lyke (Mark) and Michael Hakenson (Liz) of Ft. Mohavi, AZ. He retired from the slope in Alaska in 1994 and moved back to Rosholt where he could do what he loved most, hunting and fishing. He and Leona Warholm were married in 1997. They both liked to travel in their Fifth Wheel and spent most of the winter months in AZ. When he was unable to travel anymore they bought a place in Yuma in 2005 and spent most winters there, and in 2014 made their permanent home in Yuma. His health deteriorated over the years and he moved into River Valley Estates in 2018. Milt passed away on May 27, 2020. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Yuma, AZ.

He is survived by his wife Leona, children Eugene, Cathy and Mike, eight grandchildren, eleven great-children, six step-children: Jody Rezac (Dave), Jana Rinke (Orlynn), Jocelyn Warholm (Dan Wohlenhaus), Denise Mabry (Chet), Angie Machado (Art), Kris Warholm (Barb Maxfield), step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren and his sister, Delaine Ketterling of Wheaton, nieces and nephews. Milton will be buried in Wildwood Cemetery at a later date.
