Monte Fibranz

Monte Jeff Fibranz, age 65, of Cheyenne, Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 6, 2022.

A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton with Rev. George Sagissor III officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the church.

Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wheaton.

Monte was born November 10, 1956 in Wheaton, Minnesota to James and Rita Fibranz. He graduated from Wheaton High School in 1975. After graduation he attended Moorhead Technical college in Moorhead, Minnesota. He moved to Cheyenne in 1980.

Monte was an amazing father, grandfather, son, and brother. He was an avid outdoorsman and was passionate about his hunting and fishing. The best times of his life were being with his daughters and grandchildren, pheasant hunting, fishing for walleyes anywhere, anytime and being on the family farm. He had such great memories of his elk hunting trips in the mountains with his dad, brother, and sister-in-law. He put up with being called “Baby Papa” since his grandson Asher gave Great Grandpa James the title of “Big Papa”.

Monte’s faith was very important to him. He had previously been a member of King of Glory Lutheran Church in Cheyenne, where he served as an elder for many years. At the time of his death, he was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Cheyenne.

Monte is survived by his daughters: Kara Fibranz of Moorhead, MN; and Kimberly (Kristopher), Michael of Cheyenne, WY; his mother Rita Fibranz of Wheaton, MN; brother Jim Fibranz; sisters: Desiree Birch, Gail Behrens and Marsha (Eric) Anderson; grandsons: Luke and Asher, and granddaughter Brooke; uncle Lyle (Jere) Fibranz; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Monte was preceded in death by his father, his brother Michael, and his grandparents Ernest and Martha Johnson, and Otto and Edna Fibranz.
