Shawn grew up in Sisseton, South Dakota where his parents owned and operated Stavig Bros. Department Store. Graduating from Sisseton High School in 1994, Shawn attended the University of South Dakota before attending Worsham College of Mortuary Science in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating, Shawn returned to Sisseton where he was employed at the Cahill Funeral Chapel for eight years. On September 1, 2004 Shawn made the short move from Sisseton to Wheaton and joined the Ranney Funeral Home staff. Shawn is a licensed funeral director in Minnesota, South Dakota & North Dakota, and a licensed insurance agent. Shawn is a member of the Traverse Masonic Lodge, Wheaton area Economic Development Association, and sits on the Wheaton Community Hospital Board. Shawn is married to Heather (Hanson) of rural Lake City, South Dakota. Heather teaches special education and speech pathology for Tiospa Zina Tribal School. The couple has two young sons, Drew (15) and Dylan (13). The Bainbridges are members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wheaton.
David J. Ranney
David grew up in Wheaton and graduated from WHS in 1967. He attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and graduated with a BS degree from the College of Mortuarty Science in 1971. David always thought Wheaton was a great place to live, so after working 4 years in a Minneapolis funeral home, he returned in 1975 to Wheaton to join his father David T., and brother Tom, in the family furniture and funeral businesses. David sold the funeral home to Shawn and Heather on December 31, 2011. He married Betty Kantrud from Pelican Rapids and raised 2 daughters; Lorie, now Mrs. Wayne Hokanson of Rosholt, SD, and Heather Ranney of Denver, Colorado. David and Betty have 3 granddaughters in Rosholt. He was active in many community organizations, past President of the Wheaton Chamber of Commerce, Jaycees, and a Volunteer Fireman for 20 years for the City of Wheaton. David and Betty are members of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. David enjoys golfing, hunting, fishing, and spending the summer months with his family at their cabin on Lake Traverse.
